Capital punishment is exacting the penalty of death on someone by the state. The death penalty is extremely expensive to have and to maintain. Many people think the death penalty is good for at least one reason: it costs much less than keeping the person in prison for life. However, their thoughts and facts are incorrect. The death penalty costs much more than housing a prisoner for life. Many people have been executed, and recently it has been shown that many of the executed people were actually innocent. So, the state has been executing innocent people, and yet the death penalty still exists today.
